I forgot to mention that flowing water is a symbol of the passing time (for the individual) and the rock is a symbol for eternal time (for humanity). So the association between rock and flowing water leads to the idea of infinite and limited time.
So now u got the explanation for the title..based on the knowledge I got from romanian lang. classes in school :D
